MARY KAY GAEFE LASONCZYK
Mary is a Cincinnati native who attended Fairview Elementary and Hughes High School. In 1962 she received a B.S. in K-Primary from the University of Cincinnati and in 1987 earned an MEd from Miami University in Oxford.
She married Stanley Tad Lasoncyzk II, a music education major at U.C., and the couple had two sons, Tad III and John. Mary was devoted to her family and her profession. Living in Forest Park, she taught in the Winton Wood School District for 30 years, and her husband taught for 29 years in Finneytown. More recently she relocated to a condo in Mason.
After retiring and in search of her passion, Mary took an adult watercolor painting class at Mason High School, leading to her delighting in many more painting classes in both Ohio and Florida.
Mary’s paintings have been exhibited in the Wyoming Art Show, the State Teachers’ Retirement System Office Building, the Fleming Road United Church of Christ Art Show, the Northminster Art Fair, and the Evendale Fine Art Exhibit, among other venues.
As a caregiver to her husband and son Tad until 2012, she had stopped doing art for some time. Now, with a renewed passion for painting, her brushes are wet again. She rejoined the Art Circle in 2019 and enjoys taking classes from renowned local artist Ken Buck.
